Monta Watch extends families of vintage-styled diver and aviator tool watches

Monta Watch, an American watch business specialising in affordable Swiss luxury timepieces, has redesigned its best-selling Oceanking collection for 2018, and added a created an all-new GMT model, the Skyquest.

The start-up is entering its second full year, having introduced the Oceanking as its first model at Baselworld in 2017.

The 2017 collection, launched in blue and black editions, rapidly sold out via the company’s own ecommerce site, and opened the door to a second style, the Triumph field watch.

Monta aims to bring back the spirit of 1950s and 60s tool watches, taking cues from early dive watches and injecting a consistent style across collections such as alternating polished and brushed case finishing, chamfers on the inner and outer lugs, applied markers and fully articulating bracelet links.

The 2018 Oceanking and Skyquest models pick up on this design direction. Both models share the same 40.7mm steel case, ceramic bezels, crown guards, fully-articulating links, and flat sapphire crystal.

The Oceanking has a fully-lumed ceramic bezel, a divers extension clasp, and is powered by the Sellita SW300.

The Skyquest uses the Sellita SW330 to add the GMT hand to the dial and has a lumed pip on the ceramic bezel.

Both collections use black, gilt, or blue dials.
