Mondaine continues sustainability journey with solar power plant on factory roof

The plant means that up to 80% of Mondaine’s yearly electricity consumption can be generated by the company.

Mondaine has become one of the first companies in the Swiss watch industry to produce its own electricity, following the opening of a solar power plant on the roof of its factory.

The plant means that up to 80% of Mondaine’s yearly electricity consumption can be generated by the company.

And the firm says that during the summer months the plant will even produce enough to supply the power station with surplus electricity.

The opening of the plant is just the latest step on Mondaine’s sustainability journey and is described as an “important milestone” by the company.

Mondaine is also in the process of reviewing the environmental footprint of its external and internal processes.

This includes a commitment to recycling and reducing the use of all kinds of resources as well as preventing production outages in the supply chain.

The company has called this mission “WE CARE” and as a sign of its intent employees at its Biberist factory who commute to work on public transport receive an eco-bonus.
