Michel Herbelin mixes love of Art Déco and on trend steel sports watches in first collections of 2021

Michel Herbelin has focused on two hot trends in its first watches of 2021, the early 20th century Art Déco movement and the more modern fashion for steel on steel sport watches.

The French watchmaker has always enjoyed commercial success with Art Déco-inspired watches for both men and women, particularly its Perles, Classique and Antares collections.

This year the Art Déco collection has a new watch case for a family of men’s watches.

The first piece to adopt the shape is a hand-wound limited edition of 300.

Its white dial, which bulges to fill the polished case, has a textured rectangle with minute track inside Roman Numeral hours.

There is a small seconds below centre and Michel Herbelin’s signature blue hours and minutes hands.

Inside the 39mm x 33mm case is a Sellita SW216-1 movement. The watch goes on sale for £1,155.

CAP CAMARAT AUTOMATIC

Michel Herbelin’s Cap Camarat combines a touch of the nautical with a strong sporty aesthetic.

Touches of blue, white and red are a deliberate nod to the brand’s native France while a deck-style dial is inspired by the country’s world-famous Riviera.

The 40.5mm stainless steel watch adopts Sellita’s SW200-1 automatic movement inside its 100 metre water resistant case.

It is released with an attractive £710 price.
