Meistersinger’s John van Steen steps down

Manfred Brassler, founder of the brand, says Mr van Steen is returning to his home country for personal and health reasons but will remain an important member of the Meistersinger extended family.

Meistersinger’s managing partner John van Steen is leaving the company to head back to his native Netherlands.

Manfred Brassler, founder of the brand, says Mr van Steen is returning to his home country for personal and health reasons but will remain an important member of the Meistersinger extended family.

Mr van Steen’s Dutch watch distribution business, Time Company, is a Meistersinger agent, and he will be available as an adviser to the German watchmaker.

“John and I have a business friendship that has lasted for two decades and fortunately, this will be continued. With his knowledge of the industry and his work, which is always based on partnership, he has made a significant contribution to developing MeisterSinger into a stable and reliable partner. Nothing will change about that. Our passion for developing first-class and unique timepieces and bringing them to the market through specialist retailers is unbroken,” Mr Brassler says.

Manfred Brassler and John van Steen formed an effective partnership thanks, in part, to their contrasting styles and experiences.

The philosophical and creative Mr Brassler is very much the heart and soul of Meistersinger while Mr van Steen bought a steely commercial eye to the operation.

Mr Brassler thanks his former partner for his “trusting cooperation” and for “overflowing with ideas”.

“We still have so much in front of us and that MeisterSinger is reaping growing encouragement and recognition for its work, makes me extremely optimistic about the future,” he adds.
