Meistersinger aims for its own moon landing with astronomical Lunascope watch

German watchmaker single-handedly conquers the challenge of accurate astrological timekeeping.

Famed for its single-handed watches, German watchmaker Meistersinger has added an oversized moonphase complication to its 2019 Lunascope.

The company’s first astronomical watch has a moonphase that is large enough for wearers to see details copied from the planet’s surface in a precisely scaled replica.

Meistersinger says that the Lunascope’s Swiss-made ETA 2836 automatic caliber is so well-made that its moonphase will keep lunar time for 128 years.

This year’s Lunascope, the third made by Meistersinger, has a glowing golden moon against a dark blue starry sky and is complemented by a dark blue dial with a sunburst finish in a 40mm steel case.

It is on sale now for £3,290.
