MECHANICAL WATCHES OF THE YEAR: Hublot Classic Fusion Champions League

You would not think it given the volume of noise made by the Big Bang, but Hublot’s more approachable Classic Fusion is actually the watchmaker’s bestselling range.

The style is incredibly versatile, and arguably more recognisable as a coherent family than its more challenging big brother.

There were a number of Classic Fusions that caught our eye this year, including a limited piece for the Bucherer Blue cabinet and a special model made for Watches of Switzerland, but it is the official timepiece of the UEFA Champions League that we feature here for its combination of sumptuous sunray dial presented in an artful polished and satin finished blue ceramic case and bezel.

It looks smaller on the wrist than its 45mm diameter suggests, and certainly feels lighter and more sporty.
