Maurice Lacroix wins two Red Dot Awards for skeleton watches

Luxury Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix has been awarded two prizes in the jewellery and watch categories at the 2017 Red Dot Awards.

Two of the brand’s Masterpiece models, Masterpiece Chronograph Skeleton and the Masterpiece Skeleton, were awarded excellence in design by a jury of experts from around the world.

These collections have already made several big impressions at previous Red Dot Design Awards, making this the twelfth and thirteenth prize the brand has won at the prestigious competition since 2007.

“The Red Dot Design Awards are one of the world’s most prestigious and critical international product competitions, so we’re beyond thrilled to once again be taking two awards home,” said Maurice Lacroix managing director Stephane Waser.

“The Masterpiece collection is the perfect expression of our approach to watchmaking. It is handcrafted, modern and stylish with a high perceived value,” said Stephane Waser, Managing Director at Maurice Lacroix.

The Masterpiece Chronograph Skeleton first launched last year, combining the technical demands of an open-worked movement with a chronograph complication.

This model, developed internally at Maurice Lacroix, blends contrasting polished and satin brushed surfaces featuring a 45mm black PVD case with black gold dial and black gold plated and red varnished hands and finished with a black genuine alligator strap with a black PVD pin buckle.

The Masterpiece Skeleton allows the wearer to see the inner workings of the watch usually hidden from view – the mainspring, winding stem and gears for example.

This timepiece has a 43mm stainless steel case with a blue PVD main bridge, rhodium plated hands and a black genuine alligator strap with a deployment buckle.
