Mark Hearn: Time is now for UK trade watch show

Patek Philippe UK managing director and director of the British School of Watchmaking, Mark Hearn, told press members who gathered for a breakfast on the opening day of the London Watch Show (LWS) that the significant development in the UK watch industry means that now is the ideal time for the launch of the LWS.

Hearn addressed the congregating trade, specialist and national press before the official start of the LWS, which opens today at the Freemason’s Hall, and highlighted the relevance and importance of the trade-only UK event.

He said: "I’d like to say a thank you to WatchPro magazine because for many years the UK market has lacked a venue and event to give a variety of brands the opportunity to show what they have had to offer. Thank you WatchPro for having the foresight of doing this. From the beginning it has had my support in terms of both my Patek Philippe role and the British School of Watchmaking."

Hearn went on to highlight the positive developments that have been happening within British watchmaking over the past few years, particularly in light of the growth of the British School of Watchmaking.
