Fashion watch brand Marc Ecko, distributed in the UK by Timex, is set for a new push at the youth market with a return to high street retailer H Samuel and a new collection of colourful, urban-inspired watches.
The brand unveiled a bold collection of three-handed watches at BaselWorld, part of its new lifestyle campaign called The Exhibit, in which Marc Ecko teamed up with graffiti artists from across the world to design a line of 13 timepieces. H Samuel is said to have been impressed with the line and plans to stock it later in the year.
The Exhibit collection includes watches, headphones, T-shirts and footwear, though H Samuel is only set to take the watches.
Dan Calvert, UK marketing manager at Timex, said: "Marc Ecko was in H Samuel two years ago and sold really well but when the economy dropped off sales did too.
"But we’ve now got H Samuel back [however] they’re only doing fun and fresh range [from the brand] not the mature lines as the Marc Ecko consumer in the UK is not as sophisticated as the US.”
Marc Ecko is a lifestyle brand that also includes fashion and streetwear, as well as products for skateboards. Its previous watch collections have featured oversized cases or crystal-set dials and bezels, making the new graffiti collection a new route for the brand.
The collection was created in collaboration with graffiti artists from New York, Spain, France, Germany, Japan and New Zealand, each working with a particular colourway.
