Matt hampson talk

Loomes & Co plays part in raising £4,000 for sportsman’s charity

Traditional English watchmaker Loomes & Co has played its part in helping to raise nearly £4,000 for The Matt Hampson Foundation.

Mr Hampson is a former England U21s rugby union prop who suffered a freak accident during scrummaging practice 12 years ago that left him paralysed.

Loomes recently sponsored a talk by Mr Hampson titled ‘Get Busy Living’ to an audience of around 100 people, in the Courtroom at Stamford Town Hall.

The event hosted by Robina Hill, managing director of Loomes & Co, raised nearly £4,000 for The Matt Hampson Foundation.

The evening began with a drinks reception, followed by the talk, which saw Mr Hampson map out his life achievements before his accident, and moved on to describe how his life dramatically changed that fateful day, and how he has since turned his time to supporting others, through his charity.

Robert Loomes said: “Loomes & Co are great supporters of local charities. We heard how inspirational Matt is and have also seen how his charity has helped seriously injured sports men and women, including some of our local youngsters. We managed to persuade Matt to talk to a larger audience, and with the help of Stamford Town Hall, put together a super evening.”

Loomes & Co will also be out and about at Rockingham Horse Trials in May, fulfilling its annual sponsorship of the international horse event.
