Longines unveils official Commonwealth Games watch

This is the first image of Longines’ official watch for the Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games.

The 41mm steel chronograph from Longines Conquest Classic collection houses an exclusive mechanical column-wheel movement with central chrono seconds.

The black dial features running small seconds at the 9 o’clock, 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock. The date is displayed via an aperture at the 4.30 position. The 12 o’clock position is marked with a polished Arabic numeral whilst 11 applied indices mark the remaining hours.

The watch is water-resistant to 5 bar and its screwdown caseback is fitted with sapphire glass. The official watch of the XX Commonwealth Games will retail for £1,980.

The 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games takes place in Glasgow between July 23 and August 3 with 71 teams of athletes from British Commonwealth nations and territories competing across multiple sports.

Longines will serve as Official Timekeeper and Partner at the Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games and celebrates 52 years of association with the games. The brand’s history of sports timekeeping stretches back to 1878, when it was already producing chronographs for various sporting events.
