Longines breathes fresh life into its 1959 dive watch with contemporary reissue

2018 Skin Diver benefits from modern technical characteristics such as sapphire crystal, a screwed-in crown and back for water resistance up to 300 meters.

Longines has returned to the design of its first diver’s watch launched in 1959 for a reissue using today’s materials and manufacturing techniques.

The 2018 Skin Diver timepiece, according to Longines, preserves the spirit and clean lines of the original model while benefiting from contemporary technical characteristics such as sapphire crystal, a screwed-in crown and back for water resistance up to 300 meters.

It houses the automatic L888 calibre, produced exclusively for Longines by Swatch Group stablemate ETA.

The 42mm steel watch has a unidirectional bezel in black PVD carrying a luminescent triangle as the main indicator for calculating immersion time during a dive.

Its grained black dial, topped with domed sapphire crystal, features indexes, Arabic numerals and hands covered in Super Luminova.

Customers can choose between a black rubber strap, a Milanese-style steel bracelet, or a brown leather strap.
