London Watch Show Q&A: Suunto

The London Watch Show will open its doors for the first time at the Freemasons Hall on July 2 and 3. As the only trade exhibition dedicated to the watch business grows closer, WatchPro, as official media partner, will help you get to know the watch brands exhibiting there that bit better. Today we fire some questions at Suunto, the watch brand of choice for outdoors adventurers.

WatchPro: Can you describe the Suunto brand in one line?
Sunto: Suunto creates precision instruments styled to suit modern urban environments with functionality for adventure seekers from the highest mountains to the deepest oceans.

WP: What is the most iconic timepiece in Suunto’s collection?
S: The Suunto Elementum Terra.

WP: Who buys Suunto watches?
S: Adventurers, thrill seekers and the urban aspirational consumer with an appreciation for quality, accuracy and classic styling.

WP: What sort of retailers is Suunto interested in working with?
S: Specialist watch retailers nationwide, who stock a comparable £500+ offering to lifestyle and outdoor consumers.

WP: What new watches will buyers see on Suunto’s stand at the London Watch Show?
S: In the Urban/Lifestyle range, new Elementum Terra variants in black, yellow leather, black and red leather and amber rubber. In the Adventure & Outdoor range, Ambit 2.0, Ambit 2s and Core special editions.

WP: Who will be manning the stand?
S: Suunto sales manager Jason Kerry, Suunto territory sales manager for the North Ian Yeates, Suunto territory sales managers for northern Europe Vesa Toivonen and Richard Philip.

WP: What are Suunto’s plans for the UK market in 2013 and beyond?
S: We aim to establish a position in the mainstream urban/lifestyle watch industry through the Elementum, Ambit and Core units. Simultaneously we aim to continue developing our strong presence in the outdoor and aspirational outdoor categories.

WP: What is the team’s favourite time of the day?
S: Sunrise. The dawn of another adventure.
