Linde Werdelin creates bespoke alloy for SpidoLite

Linde Werdelin has created a bespoke alloy for its new watch release, the SpidoLite II Tech, to achieve a watch that is both light and strong.

The specially mixed alloy was developed for the aerospace industry and will be used for the first time in watch case production exclusively by Linde Werdelin. The alloy is 50% lighter than titanium but is as strong as steel. It has been dubbed Alloy Linde Werdelin, or ALW for short.

The inner case of the Spidolite II Tech has been made from ALW while the outer case has been made from carbon but uses a new technique to skeletonise it to achieve strength and lightness.

The watch is available with either an 18ct rose gold bezel or one crafted from ceramic and satin finished with diamond stone. The crown on both models is made from ceramic-coated titanium.

Linde Werdelin co-founder Jorn Werdelin said: “It has taken two years of research and assessments to finalise the ALW and carbon case construction."

The SpidoLite II Tech will be on display at Linde Werdelin’s stand at BaselWorld next week.
