Laings to make cross-country trek in British Heart Foundation fundraiser

The group, which includes marketing director Wendy Laing and CEO Joe Walsh, will attempt to complete the 100km walk from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

A team from Laings is set to make a trek from Glasgow to Edinburgh this weekend to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The group, which includes marketing director Wendy Laing and CEO Joe Walsh, will set off on Saturday.

Commenting on what the luxury brand will be doing, James Cant, BHF director in Scotland said: “We are so grateful to the team at Laings for all of their support and for volunteering to take on the Glasgow to Edinburgh Trek. 500 people have signed up for this fantastic challenge and it looks set to be a great weekend.”

The 100km walk is expected to take around 145,000 steps and around 30 hours to complete.

The other members of the team taking part are Hollie Gillies, Craig Nisbet, Katie Little and Felicity Lynden.

Wendy Laing shared: “I’m excited about taking on the trek, but nervous at the same time. Although we’ve done plenty of training, which has allowed us to see some beautiful areas of Scotland, I still keep thinking ‘has it been enough’.”

She added: “I think at the end of the day it will be mind over matter to get us to the finish line.”

Laings launched a charity partnership in September last year, with BHF resonating personally with the Laing family.

The company said that it wants to help the charity to continue to support families affected by heart and circulatory diseases.
