Laing the Jeweller invests in new watch workshop

Scotland’s Laing the Jeweller has added a purpose-built watch workshop to its Edinburgh store to meet growing demand from its clients.

The retailer, which also runs Parkhouse the Jeweller in Southampton and Cardiff, continues to invest in the luxury watch market, having opened the Laing Watch Gallery in 2012 and unveiling a brand new Rolex room in-store.

The new workshop will provide customers with a state-of-the-art servicing, repairs and alterations facility, overseen by the retailer’s in-house watchmaker, John Quinn, who recently joined the Laing team.

Quinn trained in Switzerland at Maurice Lacroix, Parmigiani Fleurier and Graham Watches before embarking on a career as a watchmaker at some of the UK’s leading jewellers. He specialises in luxury brands including TAG Heuer, Breitling, Rolex and Omega.

The retailer’s new Rolex room sits on the first floor of its Edindurgh store on Frederick Street, boasting Rolex’s light wood and green decor.

Michael Laing, chairman of Laing the Jeweller, said: “To further enhance our long-standing tradition as Edinburgh’s leading experts in diamonds and fine jewellery, we are delighted to offer our customers the luxurious new surroundings of the Rolex Room and a specialist watch service and repair centre.

"With the growth in our luxury watch business, we have extended our service department with a purpose-built workshop and the appointment of John Quinn who specialises in the service and repair of mechanical watches. This will significantly improve the speed of service and repairs we can deliver to watch owners across the board.”
