Kronaby pitches to independents with debut at this week’s CMJ buying meeting

Kronaby will be making its debut appearance at this weekend’s Company of Master Jewellers buying meeting in Birmingham.

The Swedish connected watch business will introduce four collections, which combine the quality materials, style and long battery life of traditional watches with sensors and Bluetooth technology that is hooked to smartphone apps.

“Kronaby is most importantly an authentic timepiece, and with our technology on the inside it can do more than time keeping. The watch is developed around the concept of human technology — we want to bring back the experience of truly living in one moment, focusing on the here and now and let people experience more in life. Taking the connected watch into the future and making technology work for people,” says Sarandis Kalogeropulos, co-founder of Kronaby.

The connectivity to smartphone apps is almost invisible to the watch wearer. The philosophy of Kronaby is to put design at the centre of watchmaking and only add relevant smart features that improve the experience.

“We call this human technology. Combining world leading engineering, state-of-the-art Scandinavian design and classic watchmaking tradition, the result is a new generation of watches,” Mr Kalogeropulos explains.

The Kronaby Connected Movement is developed in-house by top software and hardware engineers in Sweden who developed their skills in the high tech mobile phone businesses.

The watches, which work with both Android and Apple phones, have functions for  such as filtered notifications, auto time zone, silent alarm, get moving, music control, camera remote and timer. They have all been carefully chosen and designed to make the user stay connected but not distracted, Kronaby says.

The Kronaby collection consists of four families, and 24 variants with prices ranging from around £400-500.
