Seiko’s 140th anniversary last year was an unmissable opportunity to roll out its greatest hits of recent decades and few were more welcome than a recreation of the 1965 King Seiko KSK in a limited edition of 3,000 costing $3,300.
King Seiko is a timepiece that, in the sixties, was created as part of Seiko’s mission to make the “perfect wristwatch”, and its 2021 interpretation was created with the same aim.
Now the King Seiko is being introduced to the brand’s core collection as a flag bearer for its mastery of everyday luxury mechanical wristwatches.
The 2022 collection, which will go on sale in February, has five three-hand automatics driven by Seiko’s Caliber 6R31 movement with 70 hour power reserve.
They come in 37mm steel cases with closed case backs and the option of steel bracelets or leather straps.
Dials come in silver like the 1965 original, but also light gray, charcoal gray, brown and red.
Approximate recommended retail price in Europe is €1,700.
