Kennet flash mob

Kennett Valentine’s flashmob hits Glasgow station

Kennett Watches descended on Glasgow Central train station this week with a Valentine’s themed flashmob, complete with dancers and a saxophonist.

The marketing stunt grew crowds who filmed the event on their camera phones, while others danced along with five 50s themed dancers who began a surprise jive in the middle of the train station to Rock Around the Clock.

Kennett organised the event with help of local marketing firm DIGI marketing, who bought together the dancers, cameras and musicians behind the performance. Crowd members also wore Kennett T-shirts to drive awareness of the brand.

Kennett founder Tom Kennett said: “We are always looking for effective ways to increase Kennett’s brand awareness, both on a local and international level. With Valentine’s day in mind, we started to plan some campaigns to increase local awareness and a flashmod event was one of our first choices to experiment with this year."

The brand ran with a vintage Valentine’s theme with the song choice as it felt the way people celebrate their love for each other in the 1950s was "far more simplistic and avoided the distractions of modern day life".

Kennett added: "I think that feeling of spontaneous romance and back to basics tradition travelled all throughout the crowd. The reaction was great"

The brand has hinted at future performances in other cities, though they are yet to be confirmed. So far, the video has won more than 320 views on YouTube, having gone live yesterday.
