Kennett confirmed as timing partner for the Length of Britain Sailing Challenge

Kennett Timepieces has been confirmed as the official timing partner for the Length of Britain Sailing Challenge for the next three years.

The challenge sees boats race from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats, the northernmost point of the Scottish mainland.

Kennett, a brand created by Tom Kennett and based in Scotland, will present each member of the winning crew with a Challenger Chronograph.

“We are delighted that Kennett watches are the official timing partner for the Length of Britain challenge and that our challenger watch will provide timing for the winning crew. Kennett watches are perfect when sailors have to have accurate time and that will be able to withstand sea water and challenging conditions but be clear and accurate in all weather. We are proud to be involved in this unique event and hope to build a long term relationship with Sail Scotland on this project,” said Mr Kennett.

The National Sailing Tourism Marketing Organisation, Sail Scotland, developed the Challenge and will be the official body sanctioning entries to take on the current record time to cover the route of 83 hours 53 minutes.

Commenting on the official timekeeping deal, Daniel Steel, CEO of Sail Scotland, said: “We are delighted to have Kennett watches e on board as official Timing partners of the Length of Britain Challenge. The journey between Land’s End and John O’Groats has always been an iconic challenge. With 876 miles in between it represents the longest distance between two inhabited British points on mainland Britain. Sailing from the south of England up the west coast of Scotland is a beautiful and well-travelled route for sailors, which makes it all the more surprising that there was no established time.”
