Kenneth Green Associates calls time on distribution of fashion watches

Bezel Watches subsidiary mothballed, leaving Jean Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli watches adrift.

Kenneth Green Associates is one of the largest distributors of top end fragrances in the UK, representing 29 brands including the likes of Bulgari, Cartier and Dunhill for their perfumes.

The group accounts for around 10% of the UK fragrance market with sales of almost £60 million.

Its expertise working with the world’s biggest brands coupled with long term relationships with department stores and travel retail encouraged KGA to diversify into fashion watches in 2017 and it created a division, Bezel Watches, to distribute licensed collections from Roberto Cavalli, Just Cavalli, Jean Paul Gaultier and Esprit.

But, despite watches getting placement with the likes of Amazon and Watchshop, KGA has withdrawn from the fashion watch market, WatchPro has learned.

A spokesperson confirmed the development last week, but declined to provide any additional comment.

Sales of inexpensive fashion watches have been in sharp decline in the UK since 2014. Last year, according to GfK, the value of watch sales priced at £100 to £500 dropped by more than 15% and is down by more than one-third over the past five year.
