Junghans timepiece snaps up Red Dot Award just weeks after release

Junghans’ modernised version of a classic timepiece has landed the renowned Red Dot Design Award following its launch earlier this year.

The latest version of the design classic Junghans Max Bill line, which dates back to 1961 and boasts an almost unchanged manufacture process, succeeded in winning over the Red Dot jury this year and was presented with the outstanding design award.

Over 6,300 products submitted by various manufacturers were assessed by an international jury of experts in an evaluation process. As prize winner, in future the Junghans Max Bill Automatic will also be displayed in the Red Dot Design Museum, the largest museum for contemporary design.

The 2018 family comprises pieces with quartz and automatic mechanical movements in steel, gold PVD-coated cases ranging from 32.7mm diameter up to 38mm.

The Red Dot prize was initially conceived in 1954 and is recognised around the world for denoting excellence. It rewards innovative products with outstanding form, function, aesthetics and quality.
