Junghans has unveiled a solar-powered version of its iconic Max Bill watch that uses a quick-charging radio-controlled movement connected to a smartphone app.

If the Junghans MEGA Solar is ever completely drained of power, it requires only 8 minutes exposure to light until it is ready for use again.

Its app keeps the watch to perfect time, continuously updates its perpetual calendar and automatically converts from summer time to winter time in countries that have daylight saving.

It is a 38mm watch with a choice of polished or matte finished titanium and comes with a choice of calf leather strap or Milanese mesh titanium bracelet.

Prices in the UK start at £880.
