2019 marks 100 years since the establishment of Bahaus, something Junghans wants to celebrate.
Junghans has worked alongside Bauhaus since 1956 when former Bauhaus student Max Bill was commissioned with the everyday task of designing a clock for Junghans.
During this time, Max Bill was working at the Ulm School of Design, having previously studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau from 1927 to 1928.
His renowned kitchen clock was the first product designed for Junghans and in keeping with his own ‘principles, Max Bill went on to design “watches as far removed from any fashion as possible. Stretching the boundaries of timelessness without forgoing time itself.’
The designs around this belief are still produced today and the max bill Handaufzug is an icon of the puristic watch design.
Junghans hopes that the timeless and award-winning design continues to convey a fascination in a wide range of versions and sizes to this day: as a chronoscope, self-winding or ladies’ model, or as the latest MEGA model with radio-controlled movement.
