Junghans watch brand is celebrating 100 years of Bauhaus design with the launch of a new timepiece.
The Junghans max bill Handaufzug uses the hand-winding movement, with a matt silver-plated dial and luminous dots and pays homage to the design by Bauhaus student Max Bill, who was commissioned with the task of designing a clock for Junghans in 1956 for the first time.
When designing the watches for Junghans, Max Bill focused primarily on the puristic watch dial, ensuring it is both functional and aesthetic.
The dial is designed around readability of the time with the hour, minute and second hands easily distinguished from one another.
As the very first designer, Max Bill introduced the now familiar luminous twin dots at 12 o’clock.
The stainless steel case of the Junghans max bill Handaufzug measures 34 mm wide and 9mm high, and uses domed, hard plexiglass with coating.
The strap is calf leather with stainless steel buckle.
