Hollywood icon Julia Roberts has been chosen as the perfect star to introduce a fresh range of Happy Sport timepieces from Chopard.
The Oscar-winning actress is already associated with Chopard since walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 barefoot and resplendent in a Chopard Haute Joaillerie emerald and diamond necklace.
That appearance was never forgotten by Chopard president Caroline Scheufele, who asked Ms Roberts to become the face and embodiment of a Happy Sport woman.
“It was her and nobody else! Julia Roberts was the only person I felt could convey the spirit that I see in Happy Sport,” Ms Scheufele says.
The film star’s first association with Chopard’s timepieces is for two limited editions designed to pay faithful homage to the first Happy Sport watches created back in 1993.
The 2021 watches use the same pebble link bracelet and free-roaming diamonds on the dial, but come in a redesigned 33mm steel case housing a manufacture Chopard 09.01-C automatic movement.
Two limited editions are unveiled today. A model with a diamond-set bezel and mother of pearl dial will be made for 788 customers while there will be 1,993 pieces without the diamond-framing.
