Japanese streetwear pioneer redesigns iconic TAG Heuer Carrera

The Swiss-based watchmaker said it was the shared disruptive avant-garde spirit which made joining forces so natural.

Hiroshi Fujiwara, a Japanese designer and streetwear pioneer, has created his own interpretation of TAG Heuer’s Carrera.

The Swiss-based watchmaker said it was the shared disruptive avant-garde spirit which made joining forces so natural, with its non-executive chairman of the LVMH watchmaking division, Jean-Claude Biver, describing Hiroshi Fujiwara as “the ideal partner to reinterpret this iconic model.”

Discussing the decision making process, Fujiwara said: “We created something people are not necessarily expecting to find in TAG Heuer’s current collection. There aren’t many new watches I’d want, but I’m sure about this one.”

The redesigned piece is powered with a Calibre Heuer 02 automatic manufacture movement and features a new powerhouse strap design in black, while an additional black and grey NATO strap is included in the display case.

The watch also features three black counters with lacquered white hands on the black dial, a minute counter at 3 o’clock, a permanent second subdial at 6 o’clock and an hour counter at 9 o’clock.

It comes in a 39mm stainless-steel case and also incorporates a special stainless-steel screw-down sapphire caseback, specially engraved with its limited-edition number.

The redesigned model has been limited to 500 and is exclusively available from TAG Heuer boutiques as well as from the brand’s website.
