Jacobs of Reading in line for local retail awards

Reading watch and jewellery retailer Jacobs is flying the flag for independent jewellers having been shortlisted for two local retail awards.

The store has been chosen for the Independent of the Year category and the Shop I Can’t Live Without award at the Reading Retail Awards. Jacobs sells jewellery from luxury brands including Cartier, Fope and Bulgari and ethical jewellery by Foundation.

The local prize-giving aims to promote outstanding examples of retail and customer services in the Berkshire city. Jacobs was whittled down from more than 300 nominations across various retail sectors.

Its owner Adam Jacobs said: “It’s a wonderful achievement to be nominated in two categories in these important local awards. We’re grateful to our customers without whom we wouldn’t be here and also to my team who day in, day out make our shop a great place to be.

"We work with some great suppliers and organisations within the watch and jewellery industry: it shows there are terrific products and services available when you look them out."

Jacobs has worked closely with the NAG on its Gold Standard initiative and boasts it own in-house CAD designer. It has also spent the last year focused on numerous online and offline marketing initiatives.

Jacob added: “We’re thankful to the judges who shortlisted us – Reading is a terrific place to do business with many great organisations and retail is such a tough area to excel in these days."

The awards’ winners are announced at a gala dinner at Reading’s Hilton Hotel on September 7.
