Jacobs of reading award

Jacobs named Reading Indy Retailer of the Year

Jacobs of Reading has won the Independent Retailer of the Year awards at the Reading Retail Awards after four years of entering the awards.

The 65-year-old family-run jeweller, which sells watch brands including Bremont, TAG Heuer, Longines and Georg Jensen,  was named the winner during a gala evening at the Hilton in Reading. It was judged by a panel who selected a winner based on outstanding retailing and service in the Reading area, fighting off competition from a shortlist including a plumbing company and a local butcher.

Jacobs owner Adam Jacobs said: “It’s terrific and I’m so pleased for our team who day in, day out work hard to bring our passion and enthusiasm for watches, jewellery and gifts to our customers as well as the best in-store experience. We were up against some great competition and it shows how good a retail destination Reading has become.

"We’ve been so busy this year introducing e-commerce, our new in-house CAD service as well as new products so it’s fabulous to be recognised for all our initiatives. We’re very grateful to the judges who voted us for us. Reading is a terrific place to do business with many great organisations such as the Business Improvement District and all are striving to develop the area still further."

Jacobs of Reading said the award follows a busy summer with a charity fundraising event held by the business at the private cinema of the Forbury Hotel in Reading in conjunction with Bremont watches.
