IWI Watches to sponsor British race team in Europe

English watch brand IWI Watches has signed a deal with British team Atech Reid Grand Prix for the brand to be its official timing partner and main sponsor during the Renault World Series Formula Renault Eurocup and ALPS championships.

The brand, founded by English watchmaker Ian Walsh, will sponsor the team for the rest of the season, with the first race taking place in Spain last weekend.

All of IWI’s watches are made in England, taking inspiration from motorsport.

Walsh said of the partnership: “It is really great to see IWI Watches linked with Atech Reid and to see the logo on cars running in such a high level pan European Championship is fantastic.

“This will be taking IWI Watches to a new audience and I’m looking forward very much to seeing the cars racing."

At present the Renault series is a young championship which IWI says “fits perfectly with our own growth and aspirations”. The races will take place across a number of European race track, and the IWI logo will adorn the Atech Reid cars.

Anthony Reid, team principle of Atech Reid GP said: “We’re delighted to welcome IWI Watches to the team.

“The watches fit perfectly in motor sport and it is great to have partnered with a fellow British company who are punching above their weight against the Swiss competition and actually making watches in Great Britain.”

IWI Watches is based in the Lancashire, and all its timepieces are handmade “using the latest technology at every step to design and create modern classics from the finest materials and components”.
