Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, IWC’s team in the Volvo Ocean Race, recently became the first Arabian entry to complete the nine-month round the world journey.
The team was placed sixth in the final short sprint from Lorient, France to Galway, Ireland – the event’s 10th and last stopover.
IWC is not only behind the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team and their boat, Azzam, but was also the official timekeeper of the Volvo Ocean race.
The Abu Dhabi team featured 23 year old Olympian Adil Khalid, the first Emirati national to contest the race.
Despite the wet and cold conditions, tens of thousands of people are said to have braved the weather to welcome the fleet in the early morning.
