Stars from the UK film and TV industry gathered on Tuesday night in support of BFI Luminous, a fundraising gala held in partnership with IWC Schaffhausen.
The biennial event was attended by famous faces such as actor Dev Patel and Oscar winning director Danny Boyle, who was the lead juror for the £50k IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker Bursary Award.
Rose Glass, the writer and director of Saint Maud, was chosen as the winner of the coveted award, presented by Boyle and his co-jurors Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, and Amanda Nevill, CEO of the BFI.
The Bursary is a unique award and one of the largest arts prizes in the UK offering those at the beginning of their career the gift of time to allow them to grow as filmmakers.
It is awarded to a UK-based writer, director or writer/director with a first or second feature film screening in the BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express.
Grainger-Herr said: “The IWC Bursary Award is designed to provide really meaningful support to the most exciting new and emerging UK filmmakers.
“Each and every year we are given the tough choice of judging three exceptionally written and masterfully shot films.
“I would like to congratulate Rose Glass as well as all our finalists for their creativity and brilliant storytelling.”
