IWC lends support to CarFest South 2013

IWC Schaffhausen is continuing its automotive affiliations and is supporting the Drivers’ Lounge at CarFest South 2013, which takes place from 23 to 25 August.

The event, which takes place at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, home of former Formula One world champion Jody Scheckter, is IWC’s latest show of commitment to motor racing in 2013, which started with its new role as Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

The decision to support the Drivers’ Lounge during CarFest South is another logical conse¬quence in a year at full speed for IWC Schaffhausen.

Drivers and support crew taking part in the CarFest Hill Climb will enjoy access to the lounge. All of the selected cars, drivers and crew for each entry will be provided with an exclusive purpose-built Drivers’ Lounge, which is designed to host the drivers’ briefings on each day of the event, as well as provide a comfortable environment and space for each driver and crew to use.

CarFest was conceived by Radio 2 DJ and presenter Chris Evans and is an event that combines classic cars, live music and food, while also raising money for BBC Children in Need. It features some of the best cars in the world, both classic and new, on display and racing in the sprint courses, including the Hill Climb.

The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil (Ref 3785) will be at CarFest. The heritage-focused watch was inspired by a Mercedes Silver Arrow motor racing car from the 1930s.

IWC UK brand director Simon Chambers said: “We are delighted that IWC is supporting an event which we feel reflects many of our core values. IWC Schaffhausen has a long history of supporting worthwhile causes, of which BBC Children in Need is indeed a very important one. The emphasis we’ve placed this year on motorsport is yet another reason as to why supporting CarFest made absolute sense to the brand.”
