IWC Schaffhausen has won the trust of locals surrounding its Merishausen production site in Switzerland, after it put forward plans to expand its manufactory in a project that will take three years.
IWC is one of the area’s biggest employers and has invested a large amount of money into the Schaffhaus area. The plans to now extend its production facility will bring a number of jobs to the area, while the company plans to invest CHF 25 million (£17.3m) in the area. The project is expected to begin in 2015.
Georges Kern, chief executive of IWC, said: “Around 750 people work at the central headquarters [and] we’ve created more than 300 jobs in the past ten years – including 250 in the last five alone. [We] have invested around 100 million francs in the site.”
