IWC deepens association with Solaris yacht sailors

Companies announce a range of marine instruments bearing the IWC name including a barometer, thermometer and hydrometer.

Solaris Yacht customers have been able to buy special edition IWC timepieces for several years, but the two companies have deepened their association by announcing a range of marine instruments bearing the IWC name including a barometer, thermometer and hydrometer.

“We have been building yachts with a focus on design, quality, robustness, functional performance and long service life for over 40 years,” added Paolo Buonvicini, co-owner of Solaris Yachts.

“These are values that IWC also embodies. We are proud to welcome the brand on board as a partner.”

Sailors and horologists can trace their intertwining histories back many centuries, most notably to the mid-18th century when the likes of John Harrison made the first marine chronometers that helped navigators map the world.

Now the association is more to do with the lives of the world’s super-rich, who value the craftsmanship, history and engineering that the two industries share.

Further joint projects between IWC and Solaris Yachts are planned for this year and will be announced in due course, the companies say.
