IWC auctions rare golden pilot’s watch to support children’s education charity

Sotheby’s auction will donate money to France’s Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation.

Sotheby’s will auction a top of the line perpetual calendar pilot’s watch from IWC next month to raise money for the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation.

IWC has been a long-standing supporter of the French-based charity — created by the family trust of the country’s most famous aviator — which helps children and young people fulfill their potential.

The organization focuses on the struggle against illiteracy and manages school and educational projects aimed specifically at disadvantaged people.

Following the sale of the unique Big Pilot’s Watch worn by Bradley Cooper at the Oscars earlier this year, Sotheby’s and IWC are forces again this summer to offer an IWC Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince” in 18-carat 5N gold.

The watch — number 10 in a limited series of 250 pieces — has a pre-sale estimate of £15,000-£30,000.

Bidding takes place online from 8 until 17 July 2019 at Sothebys.com.
