IN PICTURES: Take a tour of Swatch Group’s striking new Swiss headquarters

Swatch Group has cut the ribbon on its new headquarters in Biel, Switzerland, five years after the company broke ground on the revolutionary building.

The 240 meter long structure, designed by the Japanese star architect Shigeru Ban, is one of the world’s largest timber buildings. The snake-like construction is 35 metres wide and 27 metres from floor to ceiling at its highest point.

It houses the executive teams of all Swatch Group brands for the Swiss and international markets.

Alongside the corporate headquarters is a second complementary building, Cité du Temps. It is around one-third the size of the HQ, and houses a new Omega Museum, and Planet Swatch experience space.

There is also a large conference hall for watch exhibitions, should the group choose to present its new collections on home soil again in 2020.
