Hugo Boss launches hole-in-one giveaway

By Hallie Engel

Hugo Boss has launched a new UK-wide campaign that will help to promote and position its watches towards golfers.

About £1 million worth of specially commissioned, limited edition Boss Watches will be awarded to golfers able to record a verified hole-in-one between April 15 and October 31, 2013.

Winners will also receive membership in the Boss Watches H1 Club, launched in association with The Telegraph and golfing social network HowDidiDo.

Stephen Brydon, UK sales and marketing director for MGS Distribution, the UK distributor for Boss Watches, explained that the promotion “adds a frisson of extra excitement to club competitions for golfers who may not be in with a chance of winning the event, for they know that every time they stand on the tee on a par-three, they are just one shot away from winning a stunning timepiece.”

Brydon added that the prize watches will be a “constant reminder of the sight of their ball popping into the hole and the emotions attached to that very moment.”

The Boss Watches H1 Club will begin recording holes-in-one from April 15 2013.

The web-based social network for golfers, HowDidiDo, is currently used at 1,800 UK golf clubs and anyone playing in official competitions at a participating club will be eligible. As nearly 4,000 official holes-in-one were recorded in 2012, a large number of winners is likely. Registration is not required for the promotion, as all official club competitions are recorded via HowDidiDo, meaning a hole-in-one will be noted and automatically ratified by the club.
