Hugh Rice expands Hull store to hit 6,000 sqft

Hugh Rice the Jeweller has extended its flagship store within St Stephen’s Shopping Centre in Hull, taking over an adjacent unit to give it a new floorspace of 6,000sqft.

Hugh Rice the Jeweller was one of the first retailers to take space in the St Stephen’s Shopping Centre when it opened in 2007 and the shop stocks a wide range of jewellery brands including watch brands including Omega, TAG Heuer, Chopard, Bell & Ross and Oris.

The expansion has led the family retailer, which now has seven stores, to claim that branch is now the largest jeweller in the region.

Hugh Rice the Jeweller group managing director Mike Rice said: “This has been another huge year for us and we are delighted that all of the hard work has come together to bring together so many exciting things.

“The St Stephen’s store has traded very well since we opened five years ago and by effectively doubling the size of the store we’ve been able to improve our service area and work with our key suppliers to create some amazing displays in a store that a more enjoyable experience for our clients. I hope that anyone visiting the store loves it as much as we do and that a local business bringing something of this scale to Hull helps show the potential of our city in a positive light.”

The expansion of the Hull branch is part of a wider push for the retailer. It has also opened a new and larger store in Beverley on Toll Gavel in September and is re-launching its online store, which Hugh Rice the Jeweller said is a “significantly growing part of the business”.
