Hublot releases Big Bang MP-11 model in material never before used in watchmaking

The watch features a transparent SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium oXide) case, a striking green material that the brand says can compete with the finest emeralds.

Hublot has released a new version of its MP-11 model featuring a case in an innovative material that the brand claims has never been used in watchmaking.

The new Big Bang MP-11 features a transparent SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium oXide) case, a striking green material that Hublot says can compete with the finest emeralds.

Inside beats a manual-winding manufacture calibre with a 14-day power reserve ensured by seven barrels that can be seen from the dial side.

Speaking about the model, the brand’s CEO, Richard Guadalupe, said: “With this new Big Bang MP-11, Hublot once more asserts its regal mastery of innovation, at both a technical level and in terms of aesthetics.

“By offering those that seek accomplishment a state-of-the-art material used in very high-tech applications, particularly in satellites, and by combining it with a manufacture movement with levels of performance that will go down in history, we are changing the face of our Art of Fusion.”

This version follows other innovative MP-11 models in 3D carbon and transparent sapphire.

In order to obtain this unparalleled shade of green, transparency and radiance, Hublot mixed aluminium oxide, the basic component of sapphire, with rare-earth elements like thulium and holmium as well as chromium.

The brand says the material’s advantages include the absence of tension within the matter, which ensures greater stability in terms of shaping, and the cubic crystalline structure, which guarantees the same shade and intensity of colour, regardless of the angle from which you look at the case.

The Big Bang MP-11 in green SAXEM is wound up manually via the large fluted crown fitted with an “endless screw”-type relief.

It comes with a black rubber strap whose oblique lines echo the crown design and is produced in a limited run of 20 pieces.
