Classic fusion 40th anniversary 6

Hublot Classic Fusions pay homage to their 1980 Classic Original

Limited editions come in titanium, black ceramic and gold.

Hublot is continuing to celebrate its 40th anniversary with the creation of three Classic Fusion watches that pay homage to the brand’s first watch in 1980, the Classic Original.

The Classic Original watch was a slow burner in its early years, but is now known as a trailblazer for its use of unconventional materials and combinations in the luxury world, particularly the now ubiquitous use of rubber straps on precious metal wristwatches.

Today’s Classic Fusion is a clear descendant of the Classic Original with its angular case, circular bezel with visible screws, uncluttered dial and integrated rubber strap.

Advances in the use of modern material have prompted Hublot to make this year’s anniversary watches in 45mm yellow gold, titanium or black ceramic cases, all housing the modern HUB1112 three hand with date automatic movement.

“Not content with simply reissuing the 1980 Classic Original, we have reinterpreted it to reflect the Hublot of today,” says Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.

Prices are $8,300 for the titanium model, limited to 200, $10,400 in black ceramic, also made in a run of 200, and $25,200 for gold, which will have 100 numbered pieces.
