Hublot and Berluti dabble in shades of grey

Only 100 of the 44mm Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio will be made, priced at £20,800.

It is five years since Hublot and Italian luxury brand Berluti first made a watch together, most of them in the honeyed tones of the leather which is used for its shoes, bags and other accessories.

Today the brands have revealed a different, more urban, look with a Big Bang Unico in satin-finished and polished titanium and a monochrome palette of greys.

“This new Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio isn’t quite what people were expecting – so, of course, that’s why we made it. In an urban style, it reflects the smooth, satin tones of the concrete that adorns the greatest cities. Understated but technical, monochrome but packed with nuance, it explores some very minimalist creative ground that we are not used to travelling. A piece that many will find surprising,” suggests Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe.

The semi-open worked dial uses patinated Venezia leather by Berluti with indices in relief.

The leather is held between two pieces of sapphire glass with an opening revealing the gears of the Unico MHUB1280 automatic chronograph movement.
