Houlden pair secure places on British School of Watchmaking course

Employees from Hugh Rice and Deacons set to enroll on sought-after course

Houlden has secured two limited spaces on the prestigious watchmaking course at the British School of Watchmaking, beginning in 2019.

Joe Rice from Hugh Rice and Amber Bullard from Deacons have claimed two of the eight spaces available and will shortly begin their training on the two-year watching making course.

Houlden, alongside Swiss brands such as Patek Phillipe, Rolex, Breitling and the Swatch Group act as a support to the school to ensure that the craft, which is integral to the survival of the industry, is maintained.

Despite the rise of smartphones and fitness-focused watches, sales in the fine watch sector continue to rise and the company wants to make sure there will be enough watchmakers “on hand” for future generations.

Helen Haddow, CEO at Houlden, said: “It takes extreme dedication, effort, and passion to become a certified watchmaker, and Houlden are extremely proud to support the British School of Watchmaking and with that, Joe and Amber through what we are sure will be a demanding, yet ultimately rewarding time.”
