HOT 100 2014: Tony Sofocli, Parmigiani Fleurier

When opportunity comes knocking, it’s always best to answer, and for Tony Sofocli the most recent career opportunity has come in the form of luxury Swiss watch brand Parmigiani Fleurier.

Tony has been a regular on the UK watch scene for some time now, cutting his teeth at Ernest Jones in Brent Cross where he graduated from Saturday boy to deputy manager over the course of seven years.

His next move took him to Watches of Switzerland and the role of manager of its prestigious showroom on Old Bond Street in London where he stayed for nearly 15 years, hitting sales targets, delivering year-on-year growth and taking responsibility for some spectacular in-store events.

Tony then expanded his skill set in his next role at DM London, which as well as acting as a manager for The Watch Gallery also included elements of buying and merchandising.

With this rich heritage of retail experience, Tony is more than qualified for his latest horological role – atelier manager for Parmigiani Fleurier, which he took on in March this year.

“Having engaged with luxury brands and corporate clients as well as a large number of collectors, I am now in a position to maximise these contacts and develop a unique event package that will be Parmigiani’s USP in the UK,” says Tony, adding that working for a single brand has been a long-held dream.

Tony, who is planning to pass his motorbike test this year in order to ride down to the European Moto GP race, says that he will make it his mission to raise Parmigiani Fleurier’s profile in the UK in the coming months and establish its store on London’s Mount Street as a “destination store for bespoke and unique timepieces”. And with his little black book bursting with all the right sort of names, we expect to see good things.
