HS Walsh is known throughout the trade for horological tools and equipment that only the most passionate watch geeks will ever use.
But the company’s director Patrick Sheehan has another, much more public, line of business with Grayson Clocks, which installs, maintains and repairs clocks on public buildings around the country.
Grayson also offers a line of specialist clocks, including timepieces for people with special needs. One of Patrick’s proudest achievements this year was the development of a clock to assist sufferers of dementia and spatial awareness. “It is the first LCD battery-operated display indicating day of the week, morning, afternoon and evening,” he explains.
HS Walsh has been winning customers this year thanks to an obsessive focus on customer service, and the business is in a position now where Patrick hopes to bring some younger executives into the business. Being a family business, it could be that another generation of Sheehans may soon be at the helm because Patrick was lucky enough to welcome his first and second grandchildren within 10 days of each other.
If the company continues to expand as fast as the family, Patrick hopes the next addition to his household will be a dream car. “Personally, I would love a Bentley Arnarge,” he muses.
