Hodinkee’s latest collaboration with a major Swiss watchmaking institution is with Blancpain on the release of the new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Limited Edition.
The new piece made for Hodinkee is characterised by numerals and markers applied directly to the dial, an antimagnetic inner case, rotating bezel and an automatic movement.
Blancpain described the latest release as one the ‘Fifty Fathom purists’ have been asking for as it honours the watch’s legacy.
Powered by Blancpain’s caliber 1153, it has a four-day power reserve.
The movement is 3.25mm think and 26.2mm in diameter which allows for a 38mm stainless steel case.
It also has a Silicon hairspring eliminating the need for an anti-magnetic inner case.
The dial is surrounded by a satin-brushed stainless steel bezel with ceramic insert and Liquidmetal hour-markers. Like the original, there is also no date window.
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Limited Edition for Hodinkee is produced in a limited run of 100 pieces and is available exclusively in the Hodinkee Shop and the New York and Las Vegas Blancpain boutiques.
The watch comes with three straps; two Hodinkee Nato straps in black and grey and a Blancpain sail-canvas strap in black.
It is set to retail for $9,900 (£7,979) and will ship upon ordering with expedited worldwide delivery.
