A business unit in Dundee doesn’t quite have the same romance as the ateliers of Jura, but Scottish watch brand Kartel is happy in its home, and is producing Scandi-inspired timepiece designs that are finding favour with millennial customers craving clean and simple lines.
Elegant, clean and timeless are the watchwords of Kartel.
Its KT-HUME 40MM-SS is typical, which has a silver sunray effect minimal watch dial in a 40mm case.
The simplicity leaves nowhere to hide imperfections, so Kartel works hard on delivering the highest quality it can, despite retail prices of around £100 (the Hume is only £75).
The company keeps costs as low as it can by assembling in its own production facilities and cutting out middlemen.
A particularly nice touch is the use of Scottish Harris Tweed for the Tarbert collection’s hand-woven straps.
