It is the 125th anniversary of Ball this year, and the brand saved up some surprising developments for its 2016 portfolio.
Our favourite is the combination of a world timer and a diver watch in the latest edition of its Ball Engineer Master II Diver Worldtime, which is retailing for £2000 in the UK.
There is a lot to cram into the 45mm stainless steel case. The BALL RR1501 movement features the hour, minute, sweep second, day, date and world time functions, with 24 world cities circling the outer dial on a bidirectional multicity rotating bezel that is actuated by a screwed-in crown at 2 o’clock.
Ball works with world record breaking free diver Guillaume Néry on its diver’s watches, which explains why this model is waterproof to a depth of 300m and uses 31 micro gas tubes to light up hour, minute, second hands and dial for night reading.
