Heuer expert quits store role to focus on vintage sales

The boom in prices for vintage watches has convinced one expert to give up his day job and focus on his business specialising in vintage Heuer watches.

Jonathan Scatchard has operated the aptly named www.vintageheuer.com since 2002 and until this month, had been general manager of retailer Ogdens of Harrogate for 11 years.

Scatchard told WatchPro: “I have moved on to concentrate on my vintage watch business, primarily vintage Heuer. I have witnessed the rise and rise of vintage and used watches at close quarters over the last 20 years and prices are now astonishing!

“Many shops still don’t get involved in the market as it can be a minefield but I feel that myself and partner Guy Nelson-Bolton have many years’ experience in the market and would willingly help any shop in under writing their part exchanges and offers.”

Scathard and Nelson-Bolton also operate www.vintagewatchshop.com to cater for vintage examples of other brands.
