Harrods has announced the launch of the exclusive limited edition TAG Heuer Autavia.
With a white dial and black subdials, the Autavia is the iconic drivers’ chronograph from the 60s.
The Autavia, a contraction of AUTomobile and AVIAtion, first launched in 1933 and was praised for its timekeeping functions. Three decades later in 1962, Jack Heuer, the fourth generation head of the company, created his first wrist sports chronograph.
For many, the Autavia is far more symbolic of the automotive side than aviation with the likes of Steve McQueen wearing the model.
The new release has a 42mm polished steel case and is powered by a Heuer02 calibre. The indexes and hour/minute hands are finished with a rhodium-plated beige superluminova and the piece, limited to just 150 units is water resistant up to 100m.
This design will have ‘Harrods Limited Edition xxx/150’ engraved on its sapphire case back to represent the partnership and will retail at £4,500.
